With Autism Acceptance Month over for another year, it’s time for my wrap-up for the month of #AutisticAuthors.
It has been an incredible month – I’ve come across so many different authors that I hadn’t known about and in the process I read books that I would probably never have read otherwise. Along the way I got to connect with autistic authors from around the world.
I also joined in my first ever Readathon – the Autistic Pride Month Readathon run by Becca of Becca’s Book Realm with my final board looking like this:

If you haven’t checked out Becca’s blog already – here is a great place to start: A List of Dos and Don’ts and Examples of Good and Bad Autistic Rep!
I’ve also decided that I’ve had so much fun boosting and posting about autistic authors that, from May 2019, I’m going to adjust my Monthly “What’s Out This Month” post to really focus on autistic authors. I’ll still comment on the silliness of millions of notebooks in the book category and do my other tallies, also highlighting particularly awesome looking books but I have decided it would benefit from being cut it into a more streamlined and focused post.
For anyone interested in the books I read during April here’s the final list:
- Own Voices Representation Square – Failure to Communicate by Kaia Sønderby
- Science Fiction/Fantasy Square – Testing Pandora by Kaia Sønderby
- Romance Square – Blood-Bound by Kaelan Rhywiol
- Indie/Self-Published Square – Chemistry by C.L. Lynch
- Queer Author or Rep Square – Tone of Voice by Kaia Sønderby
- By an Autistic Author without Autistic Rep Square – Pavement: Thoughts of a Serial Killer by Richard Butchins
- Short Story/Novella Square – Murder at the Museum by Spring Horton
- Contemporary Square – The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
- Author of Colour Square – A Girl Like Her by Talia Hibbert
I’m currently catching up on writing the reviews so should have some posted over the next few days.
I also put all the #AutisticAuthors (+ some more) into a massive Google Sheet to keep track of my Tweeting throughout the month – anyone who is interested can check it out here:
and anyone who wants to suggest a book to be added to the list can add it with the form here:
